When you're doing cardio exercises, your body goes into its fat stores for energy, therefore burning fat. However, if you do cardio training too much, your body will start to come into your muscle tissue for energy, so now you're losing muscle along with fat!
My advice is for people who are trying to lose weight and build muscle, is on the days you are weight lifting, limit the amount you do cardio for about 15 minutes per session and also keep it at a moderate pace. Now, if you have days when you just cardio sessions should remain under the same hours to reassure you do not start losing muscle.
