What is a good muscle strengthening routine that requires no equipment?

Suppose I have no weights, no pull-up bar nothing, as often happens with me and my travels. What is a good workout, that 1) increase my strength and 2) to build functional, but aesthetically muscular?

Of tons of pushups and other bodies weight exercises like squats, abdominal crunches, planks, racing, running, etc. You can put a backpack with tons of heavy books and doing push ups with it. You can also fill milk jugs with sand or water and how to use these weights. These are just some suggestions, there are thousands of ways you can exercise and gain muscle. You will not get a ton of muscles because the books in the backpack and can only go so far, and weight must be increased in order to gain more muscle.
